Race Tip

Battleoverdoyen is the undoubted class act in the line-up and would certainly get the vote on the form of his decisive Grade 2 win at Down Royal last October. However, he's developed a worrying trend of starting off campaigns impressively in the autumn only for his form to tail off badly, and that pattern has continued since. In a tricky race, Gigginstown may have the answer elsewhere with VALDIEU who was found to have an overreach when disappointing at Fairyhouse but previously shaped well when third to Mitchouka at Leopardstown. This drop in trip could suit. Henry de Bromhead is mob-handed with four of the nine runners and Rachael Blackmore has elected to ride Le Musigny. The lightly-raced gelding won a maiden hurdle here last year but reappears after a near seven months break.
