THE GRADUAL SLOPE is progressing over hurdles this season and may get off the mark. The grey son of Shantou made the frame in a competitive 26-runner handicap over this trip at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting and should appreciate the step back to two miles after being pegged back close home at Gowran Park last time. Tempo Chapter Two justified short-priced favouritism in a Tramore bumper last autumn and has shaped quite well in both outings since over hurdles. He was beaten by a potentially smart stablemate at the same venue on New Year's Day. Hammersmith made all in a Galway maiden last September and has been generally consistent since, including when runner-up to Top Bandit at Punchestown. Innovated was also prominent throughout when scoring over course and distance last month and should progress further.
