Race Tip

POINT GELLIBRAND deserves another chance to put a disappointing seasonal reappearance behind him. The Joseph O'Brien trained colt was sent off favourite for a Leopardstown maiden on the strength of two promising juvenile runs last season. However, the distress signals were evident early in the straight as he weakened to finish third. It would be a surprise if he isn't capable of much better. Flying Dolphin made a very encouraging debut last month when second to a well-fancied opponent also at Leopardstown. Johnny Murtagh's colt looked as though he would improve mentally from that initial outing and he can go very close now. Vellner showed promise on his debut at Cork and his trainer's debutants tend to improve for the initial run. Martinstown has to be of interest not only given connections but the fact he carries the name of JP McManus stud farm. He must have been showing plenty on the gallops to be given that moniker. Malabu Drive is another that enters calculations here representing
