Race Tip

TAMAR BRIDGE's form has taken a significant boost with his win at Ayr in March backed up by the runner-up, Bass Rock, who won a handicap at Carlisle before stepping up again when third in a competitive handicap at Haydock. Olly Murphy's gelding made a winning return at Wetherby, when having to make his own running, and the impression left on that occasion was that he would benefit from getting a lead in a contest of this nature. Midnight River was in contention when coming down three out in the Sefton and the six-year-old arrives for a confidence booster having also fallen on his chasing debut at Carlisle last month. He appears to be fairly handicapped and could enter calculations along with Kateson, who won this contest last year and also ran well in a competitive handicap at the Grand National meeting, and Straw Fan Jack, who won a maiden hurdle here last December and is better than his latest run in the Greatwood at Cheltenham suggests.
